I wanted to get real with you all about
something that happened with Odd Beauty, and it's a bit of a behind-the-scenes story.
Last year, I decided to launch the Sharp AF Pen Eyeliner, a product I was initially excited about. After testing it thoroughly, I thought I had found the perfect formula. But looking back, I realize that I rushed into production.
When the stock arrived and I tested it again, I just wasn't in love with it. And for me, that's a huge deal. I believe in offering products that I'm genuinely excited about and
proud of. I need to feel that joy and passion with every launch.
It's okay to not love every single product in the beauty world, but with Odd Beauty, I want to make sure every item brings me that feeling of pride.
So, I made the decision to cancel the launch. It wasn't an easy choice, but I chose to accept the loss on the stock and time invested rather than push something out that didn't meet our standards.
That said, we still have a batch of unopened stock — perfectly good, not expired, just not quite up to the standard we want Odd Beauty to be known for. We couldn't bring ourselves to sell something we don't completely love — but we also couldn't justify letting it go to waste. That's not who we are.
We always try to make the most thoughtful and sustainable choice, even when it means owning up to a misstep.
So, here's what we're doing: We're giving away the Sharp AF Pen Eyeliner with every order placed from here on out-while stocks last. No gimmicks. No tricks. Just a simple way to avoid waste.
Is it the wisest business decision? Probably not, but I felt it was important to be transparent.
